Abstract:

It is an opportune moment to analyse the impact of COVID-19 on different sectors of the economy. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the global economy has been profound. The global economy was slowing down prior to the pandemic, unemployment was rising, and inequality levels were high. Unemployment levels were rising. Debt was building up in every country. It was thus on a fragile global economy that the pandemic first arrived in February and March, 2020. As strict lockdowns were imposed, major economic activities came to a halt. This led to enormous uncertainties, not just with respect to immediate economic growth and the livelihoods of people, but also with respect to the very future of capitalist development in its present form. The effect of corona on Kerala Economy is not free from the same situation. The spread of COVID-19 has been pushing the Kerala economy to an unprecedented recession. This paper is mainly to understand the positive and negative effects of covid pandemic on Kerala’s Agricultural sector.
