Volume III Issue I January-March 2023
Name of Author :
B Sangeetha, Prof. A K Kulsumbi
Title of the paper :
History and Fiction in Salman Rushdies Midnights Children
Abstract:
This essay will look at how history and fiction intersect in Midnights Children by Salman Rushdie. The study looks at Rushdies use of creative narrative techniques, such as magic realism, intertextuality, unreliable narration, amnesia, narcissistic narration and others, to highlight certain themes. Personal and political, familial and national, fact and fiction, history and myth and psychological and cultural relationships are inextricably linked. Body can be interpreted as a literal text because Salman Rushdie uses this novel to represent the nation as a body. My goal is to examine his conception of the body as a cultural signifier and reassemble the history that has been torn apart.
