Abstract:
Githa Hariharan, a well-known Indian woman author in her debut novel TheThousand Faces of Night through she express new-age feminism is not about the eradication of differences between the gender or the acquirement of equal prospects, but rather concerns the individuals rights to identify one and be comfortable in ones own skin. The feminist mindfulness is to identify oneself as the victim to the power of men in society and the system. Thousand Faces of Night represents a variety of femalecharacters, with varied wishes and frustrations, desires and agonies, seekers self-identity or self-liberation. Hariharans female characters rebel against the consideration of marriage and motherhood as the ultimate goals of the ideal woman.
