Volume III Issue I January-March 2023
Name of Author :
R Preethi, Prof. Ms. D Geethalakshmi
Title of the paper :
Gandhari the Tremendous Personality of Tenacity and Patience
Abstract:
People are familiar with the term patriarchal culture, which refers to a system in which men have dominance over women, particularly in Asia. The reader will learn in this essay about one womans struggles in a culture that values men more than women. The author uses the Mahabharata story to analyse this issue because of its strong patriarchal societal setting. The goal of this study is to examine Gandharis way of life in a patriarchal culture. The author examines the literature using socialist feminist theory. Its findings demonstrated how patriarchal tradition affects the way of life and conduct of Gandhari. We arrive at the ultimate truth through the labyrinth of myths. The male chauvinistic mindset of the society is also evident in the Arian and Harappan civilizations, yet it never prevented women from succeeding. The curtain was too thick for women, yet it was thin for austerity.
