Volume III Issue I January-March 2023
Name of Author :

Title of the paper :
Portrayal of Women in Khushwant Singhs Train to Pakistan
Abstract:
Khushwant Singh has historically portrayed women in oppressive situations, denying them any type of freedom or liberty. By fully denying the lusty and cunning nature of the men who are exploiting women by taking advantage of their frailty, he has portrayed women as appealing and charming individuals whose goal is to attract men in order to make money. Women have been portrayed under the patriarchal presumptions by being portrayed as seductive and heavenly figures. By fully denying the lusty and cunning character of the men who are abusing women by taking advantage of their weakness, the writer has painted women as appealing and charming individuals whose goal is to attract men in order to obtain money. The women are docile, dependent, and perform unpaid labour as a result, they are obedient and subservient. In exchange for externally trivial items like bracelets, ear rings, and bangles, women trade their bodies with males. Virginity is a wonderful and glorious symbol that was used to promote racial conflict after the division of the country.
