Title of the paper :
Optimistic attitude of Marikolunthu in Anita Nairs Ladies Coupe
Abstract:
Marikolunthu was one of the women passengers in the coupe in which the protagonist of the novel Akhila travelled. Marikolunthu lost her father at her age of nine. Fathers death taken away every fortune, her mother worked in Chettiars kottai as a cook. Chettiar made fortunes out of silk worms and a well-known rich man. During her young age, she was fascinated towards cinemas so she imitated the heroines in her response to her mothers commands. Her father owned a land and home which he inherited from his father. Marikolunthu loved her father for his loyalty and hard work. After her fathers death, her life changed upside down. Her mother dropped her from school and she accompanied her mother to chettiars kottai. Marikolunthu was advised to do all sorts of household works from her early age, but she had some magical power within her to change those burdens into joy.
