Sexual Dominance on Aboriginal Women in Kim Scotts Benang; From the Heart
Abstract:
Colonialist views of Indigenous bodies and sexualities continue to affect Indigenous peoples worldwide. Indigenous women were considered exotic, erotic and something to be desired by the colonist men. The Aboriginal women and their children of Australia has suffered tremendously as victims They are the victims of racism and sexual dominance. The voice of Aboriginal people came into spot light only in recent years. Aboriginal women have suffered intolerable pain than any other women all around the world. The Aboriginal women were not treated with respect as the Aboriginal men. The plight of Aboriginal women and their children must be a priority for any changes in the justice system. The sexualities of Aboriginal women were described as savage, promiscuous and primitive and they were often viewed as prostitutes by Colonist people. This paper demonstrates how Indigenous Australian women were exploited by the Colonist men followed by their separation from their children.
