Title of the paper :
English Studies and Nativisation in India: Cultural and Linguistic Aspects
Abstract:
Nativisation of English language is a dynamic and never ending process which takes place under the aegis of hundreds of indigenous languages present in India. The effect of nativisation is not only present in deviations from received pronunciation but also in terms of grammar, syntax, borrowing of words and hybridity. English studies in India have tried to assess and support the process of nativisation of English language through various means such as curriculum and language policies in postcolonial set-up. The research paper tries to highlight the important factors that drive the process of nativisation and also meditate on the effects of nativisation on English language.
