Title of the paper :
The Presence of Social Discrimination and Sufferings of Dalit Women in Bamas Karruku
Abstract:
In karukku, the condition of Dalit women in Indian society is sorrowful and marked by a great deal of doom. They experience discrimination based on caste, gender, and class. Karukku strongly emphasizes concerns related to caste and religion that are harmful to our society. In his fictional works, Bama describes a number of problems that Dalit women face in the community, including domestic abuse, wife-beating, sexual harassment, loneliness, and being left by their spouses. Her literary works depict the oppression and exploitation of Dalit women and the entire community by upper-class society from a broader perspective. The upper caste individuals take advantage of them on a social and economic level. Bama makes an effort to reflect via this autobiographical narrative, particularly her personal hardships inside and outside her community, the sufferings of Dalit women, and the regular social realities of her society. She makes an effort to portray the social realities of Dalit women who battle for existence on a daily basis. The norms established by the male members of a family or community are what govern women in the current paper, which is based on patriarchal principles. In that situation, women are forced to travel the difficult paths prepared for them they are also isolated, segregated, and labeled as other. They are unable to speak for themselves due to the rigid conventions that are in place, which ultimately makes them subordinates. The challenges that women face are discussed in the chosen literature in this research. With the appropriate lens of the subaltern milieu, it is highlighted in terms of class, caste, and religion.
