Navigating Marital Dissonance in Ruth Prawer Jhabvala’s Heat and Dust: A Multidimensional Exploration of Personal Desires, Cultural Conflicts, and Quest for Autonomy
Abstract:
This study aims to bring out to the academic community how Jhabvala highlights the trauma, suffering, and exploitation that her female lead characters experience upon marriage and highlights marital discord concerning Heat and Dust. It also analyses the complicated picture of the difficulties and tensions that can develop in relationships, which are made worse by social demands, cultural conflicts, and each person’s quest for autonomy and fulfilment.
