Demographic Phenomena through public policy: A case study of Uttar Pradesh in India
Abstract:
Indias main goals are to reduce population size and improve peoples quality of life. General government goals include lowering the birth rate, mortality rate, and implementation of abortion laws. The emphasis is on reaching the masses through various public policies and their implementation and role of media to spread education for best awareness. Decentralized democratic plans through state legislatures, municipalities, and panchayats to eliminate family welfare programmes vertically is needed. A State Population and Social Development Commission should be established to plan, implement, and oversee the countrys population policy. According to experts, lowering infant mortality could reduce birth rates by 20%. The failure of states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and others to control their populations has resulted in an increase in the birth rate. India’s demographic problem – education, women empowerment, industrialization, with a special focus on the population of Uttar Pradesh and implementation of public policies.
