Title of the paper :
Telling The Tale Through Jewellery: Deciphering Folk Paintings of Mithila
Abstract:
The paper seeks to comprehend and analyze folk paintings of Mithila, a region spread across Bihar and Nepal through jewellery. Jewellery, another art form like paintings is an undervalued domain of research. Thus, the paper delves deeper into the domain and further locates jewellery in the folk paintings such as Mithila Painting, Kohbar and Aripan. Additionally, an earnest attempt is made to establish how the two art forms are interconnected. A thorough reading of the paintings and data collected from the field in Mithila contribute as major segment of the paper. Most importantly, through the lens of jewellery, the paper focuses on deciphering and presenting the folklife and folk paintings of Mithila.
