Title of the paper :
The Role of Third-Generation Indian Novelists in Shaping Contemporary Indian English Literature
Abstract:
The third generation of Indian novelists emerged in the 1980s and has had a significant impact on modern Indian English writing. This generation reflects the shifting socio political context of India and the globe, departing from previous imitative and postcolonial narratives. Novelists such as Kiran Desai, Amitav Ghosh, Arundhati Roy, and Vikram Seth have written on topics including diaspora, globalization, fractured identities, and the intricacies of contemporary India. Innovative storytelling techniques, the merging of history and fiction, and an emphasis on under represented voices from feminist viewpoints to rural communities are characteristics of their works. By obtaining important honors and recognition, these authors not only reshaped national identity but also elevated Indian English writing to a worldwide level. These writers have helped to close the gap between Indian and Western literary traditions by tackling postcolonial conflicts, the effects of globalization, and the meeting point of traditional and contemporary cultures. Their creative contributions cut beyond national borders, solidifying Indian English fictions position in the worlds literary canon. With an emphasis on their thematic concerns, narrative innovations, and worldwide influence, this essay explores the ways in which third generation Indian authors have shaped the direction of Indian English writing.
