Regional Overtones in R.K. Narayans A Snake in the Grass
Abstract:
The term Indo Anglican Literature was coined in 1883 by James Payn, when the need for English was boosted up by eminent Indians like Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Dwarka Nath Tagore, and others. An Indian writer writing in English takes an Indian theme and writes in English. Some of the major Indo Anglian writers include Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Rabindranath Tagore, Ramesh Chandra Dutt, Raja Rao, Mulk Raj Anand, R.K. Narayan, Manohar Malgoankar, Bhabhani Bhattacharya, Kamala Markandaya, Ruth Prawar Jhabvala, Nayantara Sahgal, Anita Desai, Kushwant Singh, and so on.
