Volume I Issue I January 2021
Name of Author :
Maria George
Title of the paper :
The Authority and the Alien: Subversion and Containment Patterns in A Fine Balance, Such a Long Journey and Family Matters
Abstract:
This is a new historicist practice on Rohinton Mistry’s text. The complex particularities of language and lass were considered for this reading. They are perceived as those sites of struggle, subversion, and containment. The patterns of subversion and containment are traced to understand the relation between the authority and the alien. This helps to make a better understanding regarding the permeation of power in social relations. And the final conclusion is drawn to argue that Mistry’s text has consolidated the very structure it tried to subvert.
