Volume I Issue IV October 2021
Name of Author :
Dr. Rucha A. Brahmbhatt
Title of the paper :
Exploring the Cutting Edge Feminist Manifesto of Bell Hooks and Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche
Abstract:
The present paper is an attempt at reviewing the changing patterns of Black Feminist manifesto as they emerge in the writings of bell hooks and Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche. In last two decades, the Black Feminist theorists have added various shades to their ongoing movements. This paper focuses upon two strong theories propounded by hooks and Adiche in their recent works. For Adiche, it is the individual shade of feminism that matters surprisingly after a decade of declaration of “Global Feminism” by hooks. The paper explores how and why both the manifestos, though stand apart, have their own importance at all levels. hook’s ‘Global’ Feminism has its standing at macroscale whereas Adiche’s individual shade of feminism fulfils the need for feminist way of life at the microlevel. Both, in turn, question the stereotypes and Adiche shows a way forward with the idea of feminist parenting.
