Quest for Self in Leon Forrests There Is a Tree More Ancient Than Eden
Abstract:
Leon Richard Forrest is a renowned American writer whose voice stood for contemporary black African American cultural identity. His novels explore the search for identity, belonging, and self-definition among African American orphans. The present paper attempts to study Nathaniel Whitherspoons journey from fragmentation to integration in Leon Forrests There Is a Tree More Ancient Than Eden. His fragmentation is the result of slavery, segregation, and racism. Nathaniels journey represents the quest for connection to one’s cultural heritage.
