Title of the paper :
Integrating Local Culture in English Language Teaching to Increase Motivation
Abstract:
In order to boost student enthusiasm and engagement, this study investigates how English Language Teaching ELT might incorporate local culture. The study analyzes how cultural relevance might make language learning more relevant and relatable, which in turn increases students intrinsic motivation, with an emphasis on the problems encountered by learners in non-native English speaking situations. Classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and surveys of students from a variety of urban schools make up the studys qualitative methodology. Researchers found that students engaged more actively, retained more information, and demonstrated a deeper connection to the topic when teachers included aspects of local culture into lesson plans. The study goes on to say that teachers need to be culturally sensitive and aware of how to strike a balance between international language standards and regional norms. The findings point to culturally sensitive teaching practices as a potent means of removing obstacles to motivation and creating a more stimulating setting for ESL students to study. The study finishes by suggesting ways that ELT teachers might include culturally inclusive practices into their lessons, making language learning more relevant on a global scale while also connecting with students on a more personal level.
