Revisiting Migrants: lifestyle migration to lifestyle in migration through the lens of Joseph (A Migrant)
Abstract:
According to the World Economic Forum WEF, India is the top source of migrants. Indias population migrates for social, economic, and political reasons. The majority of people have an emotional attachment to their birthplace. However, millions of individuals abandon their birthplaces and homes. There could be numerous reasons. These justifications fall into two basic categories • Push factors cause people to leave their place of origin or residence or origin and • Pull factors are those that draw people from various locations together. In India, people migrate from rural to urban areas due to poverty, land scarcity, and a lack of essential infrastructures such as health care and education. Apart from these variables, natural calamities such as floods, droughts, cyclonic storms, earthquakes, tsunamis, wars, and intra-communal violence also contribute to the migration process. On the other hand, some forces draw individuals from rural areas to urban ones. The primary elements that attract the bulk of rural migrants to urban regions are the provision of greater possibilities, regular jobs, and relatively higher incomes. Increased educational opportunities, improved healthcare facilities, and more entertainment options, among other things, are all critical draw factors. Migration is becoming an increasingly significant aspect of city life. Numerous chances and attractions in large cities attract a substantial number of people. Migration can have both positive and negative effects on a migrants life. The primary focus of this paper is to bring out from the life of Joseph, a character from the Holy Bible, how he Think Globally and Act Locally. The paper also highlights the lifestyle of Joseph how, from the slavery, he became the prime minister of the place where he was a migrant. This research paper used a textual analysis method to compare the lives of the millennium generation and Josephs life from the classical diaspora.
