Abstract:
Anita Nair is a living contemporary Indian English writer. As a female writer, she delves deeper into the thoughts of oppressed women because of their feminine and intellectual perceptions and presents their stories, which are the result of the mental inequality and emotional inequality of Indian women in a male dominated society. Anita Nair’s song “Ladies Coupe” has been a huge success. It is a matter of women’s liberation and women’s status in a male dominated society the novel raises questions as to whether the role of the Indian woman as a representative of other woman, living under oppressive patriarchal programs with regard to cultural resistance, should be limited only to their roles as wives and mothers. In such a world, the woman’s role in the family limited by her own desires and needs. Therefore, this paper attempts to expose how Anita Nair portrays Indian femininity and attitude through female characters in her novel.
