Feminism and Theme of Self-Quest in Shashi Deshpandes That Long Silence
Abstract:
Shashi Deshpande in the novel ‘That long silence’ portrays individual and universal posture through the female psyche. In Indian literature Shashi Deshpande is a well known writer and novelist. Shashi Deshpande main concern is to report the misery and conflicts of the modern educational Indian women between patriarchy and tradition on the one hand and the self expression. Being women is not easy in the society. They want to face all the obstacles coming on their way. While facing problem she must possess the enough courageous to come out of the problem. Women has the capability to change the situation into jovial and dreary moment. Feminist theory also devises the strategies to transform the social structures, which can help in emacipation.
