The Folk Literature of Hindu Konkna Tribes of Nashik of Maharashtra State
Abstract:
The indigenous people lives and survives in the company of nature. To them nature was the shelter, parent and everything. The people searched food in the nature. They worshiped the attributes of nature. They paid homage to the fire, water, jungle, snake and the animals like tiger. Hence, these attributes of Nature are the god for them. They are born and died in the company nature. Hence, their language has the dominance of nature. The forms of folk literature, dances, singings costumes, colours, and instruments are used in the nature. The tribal folk literature, its features have been analysed in this research paper. Tribal people have been living in India since before the Aryans came to India. By the time the Aryans invaded India, the tribal people had resorted to the valleys and forests to save their lives. Tribal people in India are referred to as ‘Scheduled Tribes in the Constitution’. The Adivasi folk drama of the region is generally associated with religious rituals. The use of various costumes is one of the characteristics of the gods represented in their folk drama. The indigenous people, their living, language, arts and folk dances, songs etc. have been analysed in this research paper.
