Title of the paper :
Freudian Psychoanalysis: Some Insights
Abstract:
The present research paper explores some basic insights in Freudian Psychoanalysis. Determinism was the preferred idea during Freud’s time. Everything was considered to be the manifestation of the ‘physical’. The mind was considered a by-product of the brain. All the mental ailments were thought to originate from biological causes. However, Freud proposed and showed that the mental sphere forms a reality of its own. It has its own principles, its own shortcomings and its own way to deal with the reality around it. He maintained that human behavior can be fully explained by mental states and there is nothing inexplicable in it. Prior to this, it was believed that neurotic behavior cannot be explained in causal terms. Freud tried to explain the mental behavior of individuals by looking at the causes that led to their behavior. He developed an explanation for mental phenomenon and gave a lot of importance to dreams, slips of tongue and obsessive behavior.
