Volume II Special Issue VI June 2022
Name of Author :
A Deepika
Title of the paper :
Diasporic Imagination in Meena Alexander’s Atmospheric Embroidery
Abstract:
This paper morphs the metaphor of migration, compounded out of memory, myth, and varied landscapes from multiple homes. This paper attempts to reshape the micro journeys of Meena Alexander towards a poetic Pangea of sorts. This paper also presents the realization of Alexander about the dislocation which is no longer dictated by the geographical or cultural, but by the metaphysical. This paper surrounds the reader with the constant sense of displacement an evolving journey from one place to another. This paper portrays the transportation of readers to her own choice of destination, with her magnificent imagery, vivid descriptions and brilliant metaphors. The paper focuses on the themes of dislocation, homelessness, and violence of the body as well as the mind. This paper analyses her own life experiences through her poems.
