Name of Author :
Dr. Devendra Kumar Maurya
Title of the paper :
Objectifying Womanhood: A critical study of Sidhwas The Pakistani Bride
Abstract:
Bapsi Sidhwa is one of the most celebrated names of the new wave of Indian subcontinent writing fraternity in English. Sidhwa is among few well known Pakistani writers in English due to her feministic narrations as well as for her diminishing Parsi cultural voice. Though Sidhwa is very vocal for her cultural heritage yet she never fails to discuss the stories of her clan in objective manner, and The Pakistani Bride is one of the best examples of using her feministic voice to raise her objection against the barbaric treatment with female as they are not more than a mere entity, just an object to use without any human sensibilities. Sidhwa narrates the pathetic story of an innocent girl, who deserve a better life as a human but she becomes a victim of barbaric tradition that compel her womanhood to be surrendered in form of objectification of her own existence in front of tribal male domination in Pakistan.
