Title of the paper :
Linda Hogans Trail of Tears: Our Removal-An Account of Native American Relocation
Abstract:
The pattern of discord between European Settlers and the Native Americans for natural resources has been a familiar singularity. In 1828, Andrew Jackson was elected as the President of the United States of America and served two terms in office. Andrew Jackson had been a notable advocate for settlers against indigenous peoples before becoming President. The Indian Removal Act 1830 allowed the voluntary evacuation of Native Americans to the West of the Mississippi River. Unfortunately, government authorities often misused the legislation, culminating in forced relocations. Poems commemorating the tragic events of the Indian removal have emerged since the early twentieth century and continue to this day. Through her insistent narrative, Linda Hogan unravels the pretext of the settlers and their ethical penury. This paper critically appreciates and examines the undisclosed account of the tragic event referred to as the Trail of Tears through Linda Hogans poem Trail of Tears Our Removal.
