Title of the paper :
Kafkas Influence in the Novel Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami
Abstract:
Writers around the world are inspired to write for various reasons. Some authors dedicate their work as fan fiction for their favorite authors, while others make a strong allusion in their work to honor their heroes. Japanese writer Haruki Murakamis work is one such example. He writes predominantly in Japanese and his works are translated into more than forty languages around the world. His passion for writing combined with his admiration for Western Literature has resulted in his famous novel, Kafka on the Shore 2002. This paper examines the influence of Western Literature, specifically Czech German writer Franz Kafkas influence in the novel Kafka on the shore. Haruki Murakami is well known for employing Magical Realism in his novels and Kafkas works were considered as earliest Magical Realist works before they came into existence. It aims to study the parallel drawn between the fiction and the real life of Franz Kafka in the novel Kafka on the Shore.
