A Study of Immigrant Experience in Select Novels of Bharati Mukherjee
Abstract:
The United States of America is an immigrant society. In just over four hundred years it has become a nation of over two hundred and fifty million people from other lands. There is no part of the United States that has not been touched by immigrants. Due to the immigrant Act of 1965, the percentage of Asian – Hispanic immigrants is rising rapidly. The vast majority of immigrants are from Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Caribbean. Asian Immigration increased by almost three folds around 1981 – 1990.
