Sustainable Development is nowadays a very popularly used term in various contexts. ESD i.e. Education in Sustainable Development is of immense importance. Throughout the world sustainable development plays a very dynamic role in education and literature. In higher education it is functioning in a multifaceted way to bring about changes in the mindset of every younger generation. It makes students take into cognizance the impact of Civilization, Globalization and Urbanization on the environment as a whole entity. These adverse changes and the consequent shift in values of human nature have been focused in this paper. This paper focuses on the role of education in formulating core values and accepting the responsibility of achieving said goals by the year 2030. With this civilization and urbanization of economic activities, there is a need to develop skilled human resources of higher calibre. It is important to examine and prepare students to achieve core competencies and to face the global challenges successfully. Many authors have tried to do the same by reading, writing and discussing these conflicting topics and tried to contribute to it.
