Title of the paper :
A Study on the Representation of Caste Structure in the film Nenjuku Neethi
Abstract:
Caste structure an unnecessary darkness that still prevails in society at large and has got a strong grip over the minds of many, irrespective of the literate and illiterate. There have been many great leaders with revolutionary ideas who have fought against the caste structure. but still, the caste system is widely prevalent in our society. The film ‘Nenjuku Neethi’ is a Tamil political drama film directed by Arunraja Kamaraj. This movie’s sole purpose is to show the underlying caste structure in society. The movie backs its premise with many scenes inspired by real-life events. The movie talks about creating a new society wherein all are treated equally rather than being treated based on their birth. Each character in this movie adds value to each scene whenever they appear on the screen. This paper tries to review how this film portrays the caste structure in society and how it supports its arguments. The paper also tries to discuss how the movie doesn’t discuss in detail the caste structure within among the low caste and focuses on large about the whole structure.
