Title of the paper :
Double Oppression: Of being a Woman, of being a Dalit in context to Bamas Sangati
Abstract:
This paper is a study or the analysis of Dalit marginalization and Double oppression of women. In Indian society, women were typically shown as inferior to men and subject to discrimination and disrespect “for being a woman or for being a Dalit”. Thus Bama, a Dalit author, speaks out against oppression, humiliation, and prejudice in this biased society in her work ‘Sangati’. Sangati is a narrative about the countless hardships, victimization, and gender discrimination experienced by the entire Dalit community. In Sangati, the struggles of Dalit women inside and outside of society are highlighted and shows how womens silence during her lifetime ultimately turned out as a key weapon against the various sorts of exploitation they endured. Bama emphasized the double oppression of these Dalit women in terms of employment, education and gender discrimination. Thus, this paper aims to impart a true understanding of society and the social customs that marginalize, degrade, and humiliate Dalits, making their lives even more wretched.
