Women in Tagores Literature
Abstract:
Rabindranath Tagore, in his literature admits the undeniable universal fact that woman forms as the basis for the continuation of the human race. He describes woman as the reflection of many powerful elements in Nature. He also acknowledges that, God the Force that runs this vast universe is the Master and mightiest Scientists of all scientists, has perfected His creation by creating the woman. The presence of woman has balances the centrifugal forces that may tend to spin away the perfectly balanced creation into chaos. The all-pervasive power of Nature fills the world with forces of life through continuous process of coordination. Hence, Tagore equates woman with Nature, the power of every force. This continuous striving by woman to upkeep the world in its trajectory of growth, survival and development makes her place unique in the creation. For these reasons Tagore elevates woman to the highest state in his writings and thus, she occupies the place of “Gayatri.
