Structuralism: A New Approach to the Language and Literature
Abstract:
One of the major ideas that influenced and transformed the perspectives of literature was, Structuralism. The Concept of Structuralism is omnipresent in all aspects. From the basic elements of the Earth to the cosmic elements of this Universe. The Structuralism is the core of all kinds of Forms both literal and metaphorical. The Structure of a concept will decide the nature of its features and its existence. This Paper Structuralism A New Approach to the Language and Literature is a minor attempt to analyse and the relation of Structuralism with various other factors on earth. France is known as the birthplace of many revolutionary ideas, the Spring of Creativity and the pioneer of the world in terms of novel reformations in arts, cuisines and attires. History has it recorded that the great intellectual movement of Structuralism had its origin during the 1950s, in the magnificent land of Aesthetic thinking, France. There were signs of Structuralism found in the Writings of the Claude-Levi-Strauss and Roland Barthes. During that time, Structuralism in Literature brought forth a different philosophy in the Perspectives of things. It explained the new concept of viewing or seeking things from an opposite or adjacent angles. The contradictory nature from the point of structuralism is that the idea of a poem transports oneself further away from the original text of a work but delves deep into questions of philosophic proportions. As it is so, the liberal humanist will stick to the idea of close analysation of the text and dare not drift nor deviate from it. A famous theory of Chicken and the Egg circulated among the Literary critics, which offered an explanation that the Meaning always lies Outside and Not Inside. In this context the Structuralist seeks to find the nature of Chicken and the Liberals will try to preserve and analyse the Egg.
