Women and Economic Empowerment in Modern Society
Abstract:
Women empowerment is one of the main issues before the government that occupies most of the politicians, journalists, news channels and the conferences. The status of women has improved as compared to that of the previous time .it is mostly because of the struggle for empowerment of women in social, economic and political sphere. Among all the aspects, economic empowerment is very important to help women to attain all other rights be it social and political. Women’s economic empowerment WEE has been defined as the transformative process that helps women and girls move from limited power, voice, and choicest home and in the economy to having the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to complete equitable in markets as well as agency to control and benefit from economic opportunities. This paper focuses on what are the factors that help most women in achieving their economic independence and the barriers they are facing in the process of empowerment. It also reflects on the opportunities and challenges they are facing in the gender sensitive society.
