Title of the paper :
Theme of Alienation and Identity in Salman Rushdies Satanic Verse
Abstract:
One of the primary themes of magic realism is alienation, which is explored in Rushdies work The Satanic Verses, which is about the search for an immigrants place and identity in society. One of Rushdies fundamental concerns throughout his creative career has always been the subject of migrant identity. Theyve linked his unpredictable behavior to true religious experiences, a variety of psychological ailments, or traumatic experiences-related problems. Rather than reading his actions as fact, his portrayal in the book could have been part of a creative device to encapsulate the sense of disconnection caused by the exilic conditions. Like Salman Rushdies masterpiece The Satanic Verses, which blends fantasy and realism to give the migrants off-centering perspective. Similarly, Rushdie employs Gibreel Farishtas dream sequences to aid his characters search for his lost birthplace and childhood faith. As a result, both authors strive to present an alternative by criticizing the validity of reality while asserting the certainty of the fantastic.
