Title of the paper : Search for Identity in O.V. Vijayans The Legends of Khasak

Abstract: O.V. Vijayan as the most renowed author of Malayalam as English literature. He depicts an alienated world. He speaks about cultures, languages, social evils, and identity. He highlights issues and challenges related to common man. He looks into human mind and sees the loneliness, anguish, and search for identity. The Legends of Khasak encompasses the marginalized voices of women. His characters are portrayed in a manner that they revolted against the prevailing system of society and engaged in establishing self-identity against the odd condition of life. In his novels he talks about inner voice, identity crises, and quest for self. Vijayans characters tackle every situation and struggle for their identity and existence. The protagonist of the novel, Ravi remains as an outsider throughout the novel. His arrival to Khasak is not an escape from his own life but a constant pursuit towards life. He fails to adjust the harsh realities of life and reaches an unhappy end. In this background, the present paper aims to discuss about search for identity in O.V. Vijayans The Legends of Khasak.
