Title of the paper :
Revelation of Self-Experience in Meena Alexanders Nampally Road
Abstract:
Many Indians immigrate to Western countries for various reasons. The target country for most of these immigrants is the United States. Because, it provides a base for earning more money or for higher studies or for professional development. These immigrants settle in the alien nations with their big dreams. But always they have the nostalgia about their motherland. This is the major problem found in most of the Diaspora writers. Meena Alexander is one such writer. She has produced a few novels and anthologies. Her first novel Nampally Road sets in the 19th century and depicts the pathetic condition of people under the power politics of Indian Government and the emergency period. Diaspora writers usually concentrate on the problems faced by the immigrants in the alien land. This is due to the cultural differences that prevail in the native land and the land they settle in. After sometimes, the immigrants are able to cope up with the culture of the foreign land but in contrast when they return to their native land they could not adapt to the culture of their own land and they get cultural inadaptability and that leads to problems in settling in their own land. This paper aims to express the struggles undergone by the immigrant in their mother land, through Meena Alexanders Nampally Road.
