Title of the paper : Importance of Loyalty and Devotion in Khaled Hosseinis Novel The Kite Runner

Abstract: The present study analyses the importance of loyalty and devotion in Khaled Hosseinis well known novel The Kite Runner. Loyalty is a strong feeling of support to someone. Therefore loyalty is very important in every relationship. Many people lack those traits of loyalty because they are not brave enough to sacrifice for someone which ends up ruining the bond. Loyalty brings support and love but on the other hand, it also gives instant pain and sorrow. Khaled Hosseini reveals the subject of friendship and loyalty in The Kite Runner. Khaled Hosseini advocates that in friendship, there must be loyalty, kindness, and trust. The theme of loyalty plays a tremendous role in The Kite Runner through the characters Hassan and Amir. Hosseini tries to explore the dark side of loyalty and how it affects the individuals life. In this novel Hassans loyalty moved countless times to the readers while Amirs betrayal shocked and made the readers angry. Loyalty is shown to bring emotional and physical pain and it corresponds with betrayal and it concludes that the individuals ability to be loyal towards their friends is being reflected in a persons manliness. Loyalty and devotion is the most prominent and inspiring theme of this novel.People show loyalty such as Hassan, who shows firm support in his friendship with Amir. Devotion is portrayed as a great love, affection or admiration. Every character in the novel shows loyalty and devotion to something or someone. These qualities are best seen in the relationship between Hassan and Amir, Baba and Hassan, Amir and his wife Soraya as well as Hassans son Soharab. The paper focuses on the loyalty and devotion that takes an important part in every persons life.
