Title of the paper :
Sivakamis Unmaikku Munnum Pinnum: A Narrative of Protest and Identity Creation
Abstract:
Dalit writings act as weapons against the caste ridden society. Through their writings, dalit writers not only share their sufferings but they also project the fighting spirit of dalits. Dalit writers who share their experiences as dalits never forget to give special place to dalit women in their writings. For female dalit writers it is an added advantage to talk about the women of their society. In this context, this paper projects the fighting spirit of Neela in Tamil dalit feminist Sivakamis novel Unmaikku Munnum Pinnum. Neela is a dalit IAS officer in the novel. Though she is an IAS officer she also faces problem because of her caste. Neela never gives up and she fights back through her writings and protests. This paper focuses on the theme of protest in the novel and it also explores the narrative style of the writer.
