Title of the paper :
Reflection of The Marginalized Voices in S L Bhyrappas Parva
Abstract:
Veda Vyasas Mahabharatha is the greatest Indian epic which has a prodigious influence on humans as it consists of lessons for all walks of life. Though the epic comments on almost every positive aspect of society, it also reflects certain unpleasant truths of life. Every incident and every character teaches us lifes lessons. Many impactful incidents and radiant characters dominate the epic. A few of them are praised, some are worshipped, and a few are idolized for their qualities. Apparently, there are a few characters that are totally cornered or even forgotten because of their caste. Characters like Vidura, Ekalavya, Ghatotkacha, Sathyavathi, Hidimbe and Yuyutsu are a few that can be mentioned. These characters are empowered possessing all qualities to be entitled as the pivotal characters, yet are cornered and marginalized in the name of caste. They were epitomes of brilliance, sincerity, valor and statesmanship. Despite possessing the qualities of becoming Kings, they were relegated because of their low birth. These characters can be called Tragic Heroes in the epic. This paper is an attempt to examine the circumstances that made the Tragic heroes as the disregarded ones in spite of being empowered in their own rights.
