Cultural Variation in Paulo Coelhos Novels
Abstract:
Paulo Coelho is a Brazilian novelist. He is best known for his inspirational and spiritual writings. The Alchemist 1988 is the most popular novel of Coelho. It is the widely translated novel of the world. In his novels he discusses the importance of religion. He also shares his spiritual experiences in his novels. Apart from religion, cultural variation is an important aspect of his novels. The present paper is an attempt to study the cultural variation of Coelhos novels. It focuses on the depiction of diverse cultures of the world and their relation to each other. Coelho has tried show the multicultural society through his characters. In his novels people from different parts of the world come live together and share their cultural values. He has skillfully described the customs and tradition of various cultures in his novels such as The Pilgrimage 1987, The Alchemist 1988, The Fifth Mountain 1996, Eleven Minutes 2003.
