Title of the paper :
From Colonization to Action: A Study of Easterine Kires A Naga Village Remembered
Abstract:
Throwing light on A Naga Village Remembered by Easterine Kire, this paper aims to highlight the forms of resistance adopted by Angami Nagas, an indigenous community who inhabit Nagaland. The impact of the British imperialist regime on the warrior village of Khonoma and its people, resulted in the disappearance of the Naga culture. Western language, education, and religion spread its deep roots in the Indian soil. This stirred the Naga community to action and the Khonoma battle, fought between the British and the village of Khonoma, was an aftermath of this. This study is an attempt to explore Easterine Kires work from a postcolonial perspective. The critical theories of postcolonial theorist Frantz Fanon, with key emphasis on decolonization, form the framework of study. The author, belonging to the Naga community herself, brilliantly captures the defiance adopted by the warrior tribe.
