Title of the paper :
The Impact of Culture of Fear on the Emotional Well-Being of Women and Children in Khaled Hosseinis A Thousand Splendid Suns
Abstract:
In Khaled Hosseinis novel The Thousand Splendid Suns, the cultural climate of fear and oppression has a profound impact on the emotional well-being of women and children. The concept the culture of fear or the climate of fear is coined by a Hungarian-Canadian sociologist, Frank Furedi. Through a close reading of the text, this paper examines the ways in which the marginalisation and oppression of these groups is expressed in their depressed moods and emotions. The analysis reveals the complex interplay of social, cultural, and psychological factors in Afghanistan that contribute to the emotional suffering of women and children in a culture of fear with special reference to the plight of Hosseinian characters in the novel. This study offers insight into the experiences of marginalised individuals and the psychological effects of cultural oppression, providing valuable information for those researching on the similar lines of the marginalisation of women and children under the culture of fear In Literature.
