Title of the paper :
Rabindranath Tagore and Culture of Humans
Abstract:
Rabindranath Tagore opines that Culture is the set of practices, traditions, customs, beliefs and attitudes of humans in relation to fellow humans, nature and forces of nature. The components of culture mentioned above are the response of humans to their surroundings and natures happenings. Limited knowledge of primitive human had different response. The responses based on the limited knowledge were not scientific and did not go to the root of the issue. But as the responses became practices, practices into traditions, traditions into customs and the customs into inherited unwritten laws for the governance of the societies, the culture from the previous generations has become a stumbling block in the growth of the societies in their contemporary times. To further illustrate the theme, some of the practices practiced in India in ancient times have impeded India’s growth and even made her culture subordinate to the cultures of other European countries. These customs are to be reformed b attaining spiritual enlightenment so that synthesis of human, nature and spirit takes place for universal harmony.
