Abstract: Story narration is an art in itself. Its a medium between a writer and a reader to know the story. Besides narrating the story, the writer, also uses the liberty to instruct the readers according to his her views .The paper on the role of a narrator in the stories of H. H. Munros The Story Teller and Temsula Aos The Last Song, discusses various narrative techniques used by the narrators to narrate a story. Besides, the paper, in particular, discusses the narrative techniques used by H. H. Munro and Temsula Ao in their short stories The Story Teller and The Last Song in the order of names. Both the stories are compared and contrasted to show, how each story uses different narrative skills to influence the readers. Verily, both the stories are set in different social, cultural, economic and political backgrounds, yet they have some features in common to highlight and emphasize the significance of narrative skills and how narrative skills are very important to make the stories interesting.
