Indian Literature and Partition
Abstract:
Indias partition in 1947 was a significant historical event with global effects. Great tragedies or important historical events frequently serve as the inspiration for great literary and artistic creations. The division of India was a significant historical event, but it was also a tragedy of immense proportions. There is a sizable amount of writing about the countrys division in Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, English, and Sindhi. Moreover, there has been some literary activity in the Marathi, Gujarati, and Dogri languages. Apart from Yashpal and Bhisham Sahani, whose works are discussed in this article, some Hindi novels that address the topic of partition include Balwant Singhs Kale Kos, Shaanis Kala Jal, Rahi Masoom Razas Adha Gaon, Kamleshwars Laute Hue Musafir, Shamsher Singh Narulas Ek Pankhuri Ki Tez Dhar, etc.
