Title of the paper :
Rethinking Nature Conservation: An Ecofeminist Approach of Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal Dreams
Abstract:
The diverse facets of nature and culture are intertwined with each other. Any adverse effect of one will be reflected in the other. Ecocriticism focuses on the association between human and nonhuman in literature whereas Ecofeminism is concerned with the relationship of women and nature. Barbara Kingsolver is an eminent American writer who portrays nature from the perspective of women in her writings. In the novel, Animal Dreams, the author exhibits the perception of the nature and its invasions into culture. An attempt has been made to explore womens participation in the protection of the environment to maintain the sanctity of nature. The writer, through the ordinary characters shows how the environment is saved with the contribution of the inter-related communities. Furthermore, this work illustrates the committed and astute nature of women in accomplishing their mission to make the environment clean and free from pollution.
