An Analysis of Listening Activities in ESOL Courses Offered in Communicative English Digital Text Book
Abstract:
In the business or professional world, English is an essential skill. The opportunities are open to the people who are proficient in English. English is not only a medium of communication, but also a bridge for the people in the multi-lingual professional community. The communicative English which is a part of curriculum for the undergraduate students of several universities in Tamil Nadu, focuses on developing basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills needed in various situations. The language activities in ESOL courses are referred in Communicative English digital text book. The website of ESOL courses has a lot of LSRW activities to develop English proficiency. There are more than 170 audio and video files in this website. All of them are short videos and audios followed by reading, writing and speaking activities. The present paper focuses on the analysis of listening activities given in the ESOL Courses by using quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
