Title of the paper :
The Social Conflicts of a Single Woman: A Study of Perumal Murugans Novel a lonely harvest
Abstract:
Perumal Murugans Aalavayam is a sequel to his popular novel ONE PART WOMAN 2010. The novel was translated from Tamil Language into English by Aniruddhan Vasudevan under the title a lonely harvest 2018. Murugan brings out the issues of common people in the countryside. Real incidents of the Kongu region are portrayed in his writings. The oppression of a particular community practice leads to a psychological impact and attacks the person to remain less interactive among the people. Caste oppression, traditional culture and the custom followed in society disturbs the normal life of women which leads to mental conflict. The difference of opinion among people about a single woman is being questioned. The single woman has to prove her chastity in front of all men in her community. Women are suppressed by their own community culture. The custom followed in the society creates great problems that become a social conflict through the attitude of the victim.
