Title of the paper :
Peer Assessment and Evaluation Tools: Impact on Writing Skills Development in Online Language Learning - A Review of Recent Studies
Abstract:
This review paper thoroughly examines the impact of peer assessment and evaluation tools on the development of writing abilities in the context of online language learning. A comprehensive analysis of studies published between 2015 and 2022 provides insights into the efficacy of these tools. The review highlights that the integration of peer assessment and evaluation tools has a positive influence on writing skill enhancement in online language learning environments. Students who received peer comments on their writing reported increased motivation and interest in the learning process. Moreover, these tools facilitated critical thinking, collaboration, and communication among students. Despite the benefits, the review also identifies challenges associated with the use of peer review and evaluation tools, including concerns about the reliability of peer feedback, the need for learner support and training, and potential grading bias. The findings underscore the value of peer assessment and evaluation tools in bolstering writing skills in online language learning, while emphasizing the necessity for further research to address the identified difficulties and limitations.
